What makes these expressions seem so different is that one extreme serves the individual, and the other extreme serves the collective of humanity. What’s identical in both extremes? Trust. Trust is an emotional brain state. It’s the central part of all human relationships. Those who don’t trust are motivated to serve their own needs. Those who do trust are motivated to serve the needs of others.
